04 / Construction surveying
From the drawing to the ground.
Construction surveying establishes the positions and elevations that help contractors build from project plans. Reliable control and clear layout information keep the field work connected to the design.
Bring the plans precisely to the site.
We coordinate with contractors and project teams to understand the requested staking, current plans, sequence of work, and site access. The scope is established around the information your crew needs and the construction stages that require it.
What the work can include
- Construction staking and building layout
- Site control establishment and verification
- Horizontal and vertical control
- Grading and site improvement layout
- As-built surveys of agreed completed features
- Contractor coordination and construction phase support
What you receive
Deliverables may include field stakes and offsets, control information, layout documentation, and as-built mapping of specified improvements. The plans, revision status, tolerances, and verification needs are agreed before layout begins. An as-built survey documents surveyed conditions within its scope; it is not a certification of all construction work.
Before we begin
Common questions
What is needed before construction staking?
Provide current project plans, relevant digital design files, the requested layout, and the construction schedule. Site access and existing control should be discussed before fieldwork is scheduled.
What happens if the plans change?
Send revised plans before additional layout. Changes need to be reviewed against the survey scope and existing field work so the crew is working from the intended design revision.
When is an as-built survey useful?
An as-built survey can document the position or elevation of completed features for project records, design coordination, or a specific verification requirement. The features and reporting needs should be defined in advance.
